If It Gets You By

Some never leave home without two disguises.

Some find three reasons to never leave home.

Some need to show love.  Some need to hide it.

Some will feel safer if they leave it alone. 

If it gets you by, hallelujah! Don’t ever let it go-

Life gives you methods, you get to choose it.

If it suits your  style, no need to lose it.  And so…

If it gets you by don’t ever let it go.

Some cut the sun into bright orange slices.

Some do a rain dance beneath any cloud.

Some howl at full moons and pay morning prices.

Some become big stars and make mama proud.

If it gets you by, hallelujah! Don’t ever let it go-

When life gives you something that you find redeeming,

if it suits your style, its worth believing in.  So…

If it gets you by don’t ever let it go.

     There’s no explanation that you need to leave,

     if it keeps you turning, keep it up your sleeve.

     And if others tell you that you must abstain,

     tell them they’re crazy because it keeps you sane.
